"The common good and the building up of community are the two foundations enabling the Christian community to organize the variety of ministries that the Spirit prompts in relation to the concrete situation it experiences." - Pope Francis, August 2022
Purpose of Ministry: Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers the power, to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ. At St. Magdalen’s, we have seven areas of pastoral ministries that seek to support and guide all areas of parish life. As with the pastoral council, each ministry must be animated and guided by the essential meaning of our mission statement: The Roman Catholic Church of St. Magdalen de Pazzi exists to echo Jesus’ call to all: Come and follow me.
Similar to the Pastoral Council, Ministries must discern vibrant ways to engage the community of the parish within their area of responsibility, prioritize potential needs and develop initiatives that will support effective pastoral awareness and care for our faith community. They work collaboratively with and through the pastoral council to implement ways to strengthen our understanding of Christ’s mission work and the call to a ‘new evangelization’.
