Deacon Anthony Cozzi was born in Brooklyn, New York. Growing up, as a teen, he moved to New Jersey and was a parishioner at St. Mary’s Church in Middletown, New Jersey. He met his wonderful wife Linda at Marist College, where they both attended and where he received his B.S. in Computer Science. He later received his M.S. in Management from Stevens Institute of Technology. He and Linda were married in 1992 and have been happily married now for over 30 years.
The Cozzis have been members of St. Magdalen’s church since 1997 where their three sons have served as Altar Servers and Sacristans, served as Chief Squires, helped teach CCD, and have worked the church grounds.
In his spare time, Deacon Anthony has coached local youth sports for over 16 years, coaching baseball, football and soccer. He is a fourth degree member of the Knights of Colombus, has served as Past Grand Knight of Council 3294 and is a founder of the St Tarcisius Squires Circle here at St. Magdalen’s. He has also served the NJ State Knights of Columbus as a Former District Deputy for the Metuchen diocese.
As a member of the Diaconate Class of 2019, Deacon Anthony was ordained in June of 2019 by bishop James Checchio and assigned to his home parish of St Magdalen’s. He has assisted the tribunal of the Diocese of Metuchen, and has served St. Magdalen’s with the Knights of the Holy Altar, The Legion of Mary and as Past Director of Commissions.
Deacon Anthony is deeply honored to serve as a deacon and feels very blessed to have the opportunity to serve the parish of St. Magdalen De Pazzi.
