Deacon Dave Urcinas was born in Waterbury, Connecticut. Growing up, he and his two brothers and two sisters were parishioners at St. Joseph’s in the Brooklyn section of Waterbury. He attended St. Joseph’s Grammar School, WF Kaynor Technical High School, and received a BS degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Connecticut. Deacon Dave and his wife, Barbara, who also grew up in Waterbury, were married on September 26th, 1981.
Prior to moving to Flemington in 1997, the young Urcinas family lived in Connecticut, and had short term relocations to Puerto Rico and Boulder, Colorado. Before his retirement, Deacon Dave worked for Merck & Co.
Deacon Dave and Barbara have 3 adult children, who live in New Jersey and in Connecticut. They currently have 5 grandchildren.
Deacon Dave and Barbara have been parishioners at St. Magdalen de Pazzi Church since 1997, and have been involved in various ministries including Youth Group, Bible Study and the Evangelization Commission. Deacon Dave has also served in the Knights of Columbus, Building and Grounds, and as an Extraordinary Minister of the Eucharist.
With the support of Barbara and Fr. Jack O’Kane, he entered Diaconate formation in 2013. Deacon Dave was ordained to the Permanent Diaconate in 2017, vested by Barbara and Fr. Timothy Christy. He has been blessed to serve the people of St. Magdalen’s since that time, ministering at wake services, preparing couples for Marriage, training Altar Servers, and co-leading ChristLife. Recently, he also assumed the position of Associate Director of Formation for the Diocese of Metuchen Diaconate Class of 2027.
